Open New Zealand
Welcome to open.org.nz. We develop and host projects around transparency, participatory democracy, and generally making central and local government useful to citizens and businesses.
You can keep track of our projects by visiting the Open NZ wiki or by joining the opengovt-announce mailing list where we post updates. If you’d like to get involved with any of the projects, maybe as a developer or an organiser or a writer of documentation, you can join the Ninjas mailing list and become a volunteer.
Projects
- Open Data Catalogue: The one-stop shop for locating Government data. We hope that, in time, Government itself will take on the responsibility for maintaining this catalogue in accordance with our principles: user-contributions welcome, the license is important, and instant access is infinitely preferable to a tiresome registration process. (launched 5 June 2009)
Requirements for data.govt.nz: The Government will eventually implement a data catalogue of its own, so we have some requirements for them. Written by consumers of Government data to ensure the data catalogue functions the way we need it to.
